[personal profile] thornbreaker
Name: Bryn Thronbreaker (Birthname forgotten, Bryn is a name a halfling gave her and Thornbreaker was her nickname in the gladiatorial pits)
Age: Unsure (Mid-thirties)
Race: Centaur
Height: 8'1"
Weight: ???
Origin: D&D Homebrew (based off 5E)
Appearance: Bryn, being a centaur, is half human half horse. A large creature she towers over a far amount of people. Her human half is rather broad, being she's mostly a mass of muscle. Much of her upper body is covered in various scars from her time in the pits. Similarly even the rest of her body has patches where the hair doesn't grow in right due to heavy scars. For the rest of her body her hair is black with white near her hooves and a white tail. The same white can be found in her already very light blonde hair. Her eyes are a pale blue. Normally she has the barest of clothing on her torso and even that shred of clothing is messy, covered in dirt and stains of various origins. She keeps a traveling pack attached to her waist where her two forms join. She carries a maul on her hip and a greatsword on her back. Her general demeanor can come off as cold but she's not normally hostile.

Brief History:
- Bryn is born into the very nomad culture of her people. They were at the time traveling through the the southern part of what they had been informed was dwarven territory. As it turns out orcs had overtaken the land and driven all of the dwarves back. Her and her clan are captured.
-All of them are sent to different jobs. Their freedom is gone. Bryn can't find many of the elders or adults left as it seems they've been killed or moved into some sort of hiding to keep them apart from the younger generation.
-At first she does manual labor. Until someday she gets into a fight with another slave, a halfling, and she stomps him to death. This begins her grooming for the gladitorial pit.
-She ends up spending over a decade in the pits fighting all sorts of creatures, other races, even her own people. Knowing that it was fight and kill or die herself she begins to accept that she has to do this. Not because she wants to kill but because she wants to live. During this time a different person starts calling her "Bryn" when they meet. As to mock her the orcs start giving her the name "Thornbreaker".
-In her mid-twenties the settlement she was in is overrun by a faction of dwarves and adventurers who were hired to help them claim their ancestral lands back. In the commotion she grabs some weapons and escapes.
- She runs north and finds a small primarily dwarven village. At first most of the village is hesitant to help her. The local blacksmith and his wife take her in. For the new few years she learns more than basic common, helps the town out and occasionally goes hunting with them. Thanks to Hordus and his wife Ingvia she has an understanding of basic society.
- She joins us with two people, a dragonborn bard and a human arcane trickster who show up in the town. She is hesitant to join the two of them because she just is unsure about people. Hordus assures her that she'll be a fine adventurer and that she'll find her place.
-Over the course of the next couple of years they gain two more teammates, a barbarian and a monk. She still continues to struggle with social situation and understanding them.
- After returning to the village Goldshrine, a small village on the southern part of the continent, they received a celebration and rewards for killing a band of orcs and a cyclops that were planning to ransack the village.
-They're approached by two people. one is a man in overly elaborate clothing, whose very full of himself and trying to throw around gold to get someone to do a task for him. Reluctantly Bryn agrees with the rest of the group to perform this task. As it turns out it's finding some sort of artifact that was taken from him by the dark brotherhood. Bryn remains uncertain.
- They're also approached by a young woman named Alessandra. She seems eager to join the group. Bryn pushes her on the harsh reality of adventuring and again, despite herself, agrees that she may come with so long as she carries her weight. They have shared a mutual confusion over the man who hired them.
-After going around the village and gathering some resources they retire to the inn to settle down before they head off on this new quest.
-When the morning arrives Russel and Genn both had business to take care of so they left ahead of the group. The four left gather themselves and start heading north to Balamoore, land of the druids.
- As they go through the forest and in a sense of over-eagerness Alessandra and Chillunga end up upsetting a displacer beast. A quick brawl starts and both Chillunga and Alessandra end up downed but not without having done heavy damage to the displacer beast. Bryn and the beast end up communicating and she finds out it was following them to show the young pups how to stalk. They make amends by offering each other different food. The two downed are brought back and they continue on their path.
- They arrive at an unnamed outpost, primarily run by merchants and a few other adventurer parties. They're welcomed with open arms as due to it being late in the evening most people are busy drinking. At this point everyone goes off and does their own thing around the small settlement. Alessandra tries to wash herself which does poorly. Chillunga makes some money playing. Azogg tries his hand at cards with some locals. Bryn just finds a spot that she's comfortable with until morning. When morning comes they ask for directions if there's an shortcuts to help them reach their destination. They're met with a disappointing no.
-The rest of their travel is mostly uneventful until they reach the woods outside of the druids home, not that they're aware they've reached the lands they were looking for. Cheif Roephunk meets them and they have a little chat. He uses his druidic magic to propel them from the forest to Balamoore. Azogg and Chillunga get sick from the movement.
-The chief and the party have an exchange, them expressing how they're looking for this man named Austin who is believed to have stolen something important. Roephunk mentions he remembers the man. He comes to the druids at times and helps them chart out new areas. He tells them the man was seen heading north to a spire in the mountains.
-The party thanks him for his time then heads out. After a day following the path they come across a man at the foot of the mountains. Covered in a black robe Azogg attempts to go close to investigate the man. He ends up trapped by a glyph. He man casts a fiery spell at him and thus begins a fight. They quickly realize he's using magic to shield himself.
-During the fight they manage to wear his shield down. Alessandra burns away part of the mans robes. His mouth is seared shut and there's a pitch black gem lodged into his chest. Chillunga in his brilliance decides he wants to try and rip that gem out. While he manages to grab the gem he ends up trapped due to a glyph as well. Unable to move he's now stuck.
- Azogg rushes in to try and help. He tries to swing at the man and cleave him in half. He misses. He cuts off the arm that was partly lodged into the foe's chest. Chillunga, now down to one arm and heavily damaged, collapses. Alessandra and Bryn work together to freeze then shatter the man. Azogg gives their bard friend medical attention, at least enough to keep him from dying. Bryn and Alessandra examine the gem as it seems to radiate with an evil aura.
- Azogg again does something brilliant. He tries to grab the gem with his bear hands. It sears his flesh and creates a burning, cursed hole in his hand and it collapses back to the ground. Alessandra uses an enchanted bag to pick up and carry the gem. Chillunga comes to and has a less then friendly exchange with Azogg about his arm.
-The group heads back to Balamoore where the chief comments that it is a shame Austin was too invested in dark arts. He also manages to give Chillunga a new "arm". Composed of vines it does function but doesn't quite conform to a traditional arm. To celebrate them acquiring their goal and living they and the druids proceed to party.
- Everything is Azogg's fault ( I mean...it is )

Brief personality:
Bryn is a woman who isn't good at expressing herself when it comes to a lot of matters. She's prone to being blunt and sometimes screwing up what she truly means to say. Because she knows that she's bad in social situations there's a lot of times she just stands there as the tall, silent guardian and only speaks to assert this sense of control. She's fairly rough around the edges but she has a good heart . Due to the atrocities she witnessed over most of her life she has a deep level of compassion for others who are suffering and for injustices in the world. That said she has a hard time communicating with people and cities because she is a centaur. She wants to really find some sort of clan to belong with and her collection of ragtag adventurers is the closest thing she has to one.

Look this is a mess and I swear once we get a little more progress in the story I'll have it more fleshed out.
